Rachel Spiller

Rachel hails from Cambridge and, happily, still lives there.  She started clarinet lessons through the Cambridge Public Schools music program in the 4th grade and, as a junior in high school, switched to bassoon.

Rachel earned a BA in Education from Simmons and M.Ed. in Administration from University of Massachusetts Lowell.  Over the years, she has been a member of many local orchestras and wind ensembles.  In 1975, she along with her mother Gertrude Spiller and friend Harriet Fierman, founded the Cambridge Symphony Orchestra, then known as The Little Orchestra of Cambridge.

Rachel spent many years in public school teaching and currently is an Executive Assistant in the office of Alumni Affairs and the Northeastern Annual Fund at Northeastern University.  In addition to stewarding the orchestra, Rachel enjoys cooking, spending time with friends and family, and her cat Jazz.
