Seventeen year old Newton resident Talia Kee is a senior at Noble and Greenough School and began studying violin at the age of three. She currently studies with Jin-Kyung Joen and began her studies with Jan Riggs. Talia serves as assistant concertmaster of New England Conservatory’s Preparatory Youth Philharmonic Orchestra with whom she has toured Iceland and Norway. Talia also serves as concertmaster of the Noble and Greenough school orchestra, having toured Bermuda, Montreal and soon, Colombia. Talia has won multiple competitions including first place in the 2017 Brockton Symphony Concerto Competition, the 2016 American Fine Arts Festival debuting at Carnegie Hall, and the 2015 Massachusetts Music Teachers Association Bay State Contest. Talia is also an avid chamber player participating in the NEC Prep chamber program as well as spending many summers at Greenwood Music Camp.
Talia strives to give back and has volunteered as a mentor/performer in several community music programs including the Conservatory Lab Charter School, From the Top Center for Development of the Arts Leaders and the Nobles Music Outreach program. Talia has worked the past two summers in internships for computer science at local software companies including Twitter Boston. In addition to coding, she enjoys playing squash, going to the beach, and traveling.
