Vira Slywotzky

VSlywotzkyheadshot1Soprano Vira Slywotzky has sung principal roles with Seattle Opera, Chautauqua Opera, Chelsea Opera, Center for Contemporary Opera and Boston Midsummer Opera. She has sung recitals and concerts in New York at Weill Hall, Merkin Hall and SubCulture, in Paris at Le Musée des Arts Décoratifs and in Sweden at the Sundsvalls församling kyrka. Favorite roles include Tatyana in Eugene Onegin, Fiordiligi in Cosí fan Tutte, Nedda in Pagliacci, Helena in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Giorgetta in Il Tabarro and Magda in The Consul.


Since 2008, Slywotzky has been the soprano of Mirror Visions Ensemble, a vocal trio that is internationally recognized for its innovative programming, nuanced performances, and extensive commissioning.


A founding member of the New York based company Victor Herbert Renaissance Project – LIVE!, Slywotzky has performed five complete Herbert roles, including Adah in Naughty Marietta and Roxanne in Cyrano de Bergerac.


Slywotzky has twice been a New England Regional Finalist in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, and in 2009 was the sole representative of the United States at the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World Competition.


Slywotzky received an MM from Mannes and a BA from Yale. She was born and raised in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Slywotzky serves on the board of the Berkshire Opera Festival.
