An update on our spring season

UPDATED MAY 1, 2020

Dear friends and CSO supporters,

It is with sadness that I write to share that we have decided to cancel our two June concerts, “An Evening of Ballet,” which was scheduled to take place Saturday, June 13 at MIT’s Kresge Auditorium; and our annual “Pops on the Lawn” outdoor concert.

This decision—made in light of the unprecedented circumstances surrounding the Covid-19 outbreak—was a difficult one, but our disappointment is blended with a sense of hope. It has moved us to see so many arts organizations reach out to their communities and do what is best for everyone’s health and safety.

We, too, are dedicated to the well-being of all audience members, musicians, guest artists, staff, Board members, and volunteers. In accordance with CDC guidelines as well as Governor Baker’s ban on gatherings larger than 25 people, we are suspending rehearsals and in-person meetings through May and cancelling our June performances.

To me, this is yet another opportunity to reflect on the power of music to forge deep connections between us all.

If you have purchased a ticket to the June 13 “An Evening of Ballet” concert—or if you have a season subscription—we hope that you will consider donating the value of your ticket to the CSO. To do so, simply email tickets@cambridgesymphony.org with your name, mailing address, and ticket order number. We will happily send you a tax receipt with our utmost gratitude.

If you prefer to receive a refund for your ticket, please send your name and ticket order number to the email address above. We thank you for your patience as we process refunds.

As always, we love hearing from you—if you are so inclined, drop us a line at info@cambridgesymphony.org anytime to share your thoughts on our programming, outreach offerings, or a specific concert experience.

Thank you for being a critical and cherished part of our community.

Yours in music and good health,

Allison Eck, President, Cambridge Symphony Orchestra
